In the 1790s a toll point was set up where it crossed what was then the main route from Glasgow to Kilmarnock and Ayr. A man named John Clark built a house at the toll, and the name 'Clarkston' came to be used for the locality. Modern-day Clarkston is now a suburban town in East Renfrewshire with a population of around 10,000 people.
Clarkston is also in the catchment area for St Ninians and Williamwood High School which consistently score high on the league tables. There are also fantastic transport links with Clarkston railway station which is on Southwestern Line and there are also multiple bus stops which run through neighbouring areas.
Silverburn Shopping Centre is only a 13-minute drive from Clarkston, and it offers a range of fantastic shops from Hugo Boss to H&M, LEVI’S, and M&S. It also has several wonderful restaurants such as Five Guys and Tony Macaroni’s, a PureGym, a Cineworld and of course, The Upload Abode Property Pod.
